Hi. I stumbled upon this website because I’ve heard numerous times that cbd or possibly marijuana use could potentially help me with several of my problems. I’m an absolute mess all the time and I can’t take most medications for numerous different reasons. I want to start by saying that I’ve never used any recreational drugs and barely can coax myself to even take my prescribed medications due to serious phobias. My family is full of addicts and I was always afraid to be one of them.

Great question! CBD can cause nausea for some individuals, particularly when they’re taking high doses. It’s odd, as CBD is also used to help people struggling with nausea and low appetite. We’re all a little different, so the responses vary too. If you’re experiencing nausea, consider taking it with food or backing down on the dose. If you want to chat with someone on our team, feel free to call us at any point or swing by one of the stores. We’re here to help!

Unlike THC, the psychoactive compound which is responsible for giving you that high effect, CBD, is non-psychoactive and a proven aid for nausea, pain, and anxiety (plus, if extracted from industrial hemp, it’s legal). CBD is also known to be anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, cell-regenerative, and anti–cell proliferative for bad cells. This means that CBD is a potential therapy for a range of medical conditions.
CBD, as a standalone medical treatment, does provide patients with more benefits than it does negative side effects. Though it may not cure symptoms permanently, it may prove a far better alternative to that of a drug that holds an array of negative after effects. All in all, CBD in itself is a natural, non-psychoactive, and very safe alternative to many modern medications being prescribed today, though there is much to be learned about its full potential.
Unlike THC, which primarily binds to CB-1 receptors located in the brain, CBD works in the body by manipulating receptors throughout organ tissues, the immune system, the pain response system, the hormonal system, and other whole-body regulatory systems. Basically, since its receptors have been found to exist in virtually every cell and tissue type in the body, CBD is believed to work on every aspect of human health and behavior – from the subcellular level to the whole-body leve and beyond.
CBD is well tolerated in humans with doses up to 600 mg not resulting in psychotic symptoms (15). In the few small placebo-controlled studies performed, no significant CNS effects were noted. Oral CBD undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism via CYP3A4, with a bioavailability of 6%. Following single doses in humans, the half-life of CBD when taken orally is about 1 to 2 days.1 In vitro studies have shown that CBD is a potent inhibitor of multiple CYP isozymes, including CYP 2C and CYP3A (16, 17). Whether these in vitro observations are relevant at plasma concentrations likely to be seen in patients is unclear. In addition, given its metabolism via CYP3A4, clinical trials of CBD in patients receiving enzyme-inducing AEDs, such as carbamazepine or phenytoin, will require detailed pharmacokinetic studies.
“…Acute CBD administration by the oral, inhalatory or intravenous route did not induce any significant toxic effect in humans. In addition, chronic administration of CBD for 30 days to healthy volunteers, at daily doses ranging from 10 to 400 mg, failed to induce any significant alteration in neurological, psychiatric or clinical exams. Finally, in patients suffering from Huntington’s disease, daily doses of CBD (700 mg) for 6 weeks did not induce any toxicity.”
CBD oil has taken hold of the United Kingdom and it’s not showing signs of loosening its grip any time soon. The number of people using CBD oil for its health benefits doubled from 2017 to 2018, and the more aware people become of CBD products, the more popularity CBD products gain. One reason for this uptick in consumer awareness is that CBD products are sold on the high street. Holland and Barrett (a popular high street health store), in particular, introduced CBD oil in January of 2018 (Jacob Hooy CBD oil). Sadly, their CBD oil is very disappointing, and we’ll tell you exactly why in this Holland and Barrett CBD Oil Review.
Cannabidiol or CBD is an active compound in the cannabis plant. This is present in both hemp and cannabis. Compared to the popular tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, this is not psychoactive and it is safe for use, even by children. This product has no effect on the mind of the user. It only offers relaxation and pain relief. CBD is sometimes overlooked because of the stigma connected with cannabis and THC. However, there are many benefits to using it—including as a natural treatment for epilepsy. In this post, we will be looking at various uses of CBD Cream and Lotions as well as offering reviews of the best products on the market today.
This pocket-sized salve is perfect for travel or for sports, when you need a quick fix for your sore joints and muscles. It is also infused with arnica, meadowsweet, elderflower, calendula, ginger, vitamin E, turmeric, and other nourishing skincare ingredients that provide anti-inflammatory benefits. It’s good to know ahead of time that this salve is extremely hard to apply—there’s a lot of beeswax in there, which makes it difficult to melt enough to rub into your skin. (There is also a handy Topical Roll-On version so that you don’t have to even use your fingers—the problem is, the roll-on formula is also made with beeswax. It’s been 65 degrees in New York City all week and I still can’t get the formula to melt in the roll-on. Nothing that placing the container in a bowl of hot water won’t solve, but it’s not up to general skincare standards.)
Is the product full spectrum or an isolate? We believe full spectrum CBD oils have greater therapeutic value. Some people talk about the “entourage effect,” or multiple cannabinoids working together. Experts we talk to support the idea of whole-plant therapy. Look for full-spectrum oils. Be careful not to get duped into buying products that use words like “pure” or “potent.” See past the marketing.
This mint-green bath bomb, made by Los Angeles-based De La Beuh, combines the invigorating aromatherapy of peppermint oil with the pain relief benefits of CBD. I sat in the bath with this bath bomb soak for an hour—until the water ran cold—when I had both cramps and lower back aches, and while it doesn’t beat ingesting a painkiller, it did help soothe my pains so that I fell asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. De La Beuh sells bath bombs in many varieties—including a glittery Kaleidoscope version that will turn your bath into “unicorn” colors—so your preference just depends on your preferred aroma.

Vaporizers – Many state-licensed cannabis dispensaries offer high CBD strains of cannabis flower. This allows for reduced risk of paranoia while allowing for a high medicinal dose of CBD. Vaporizers are used to heat up the flower and remove the properties or compounds of the plant that you are looking for without combustion or smoking. Vaporizers use convection much like a convection oven.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us this feedback. Dry mouth is not an uncommon side effect of CBD oil, but difficulty swallowing and breathing would indicate that you may have an allergy. However, because the symptoms are lingering, we’d suggest seeing your doctor, as an allergic reaction to any substance would not last for longer than a few hours to a few days at most. If there’s anything we can do to help, or if your doctor would want to call us to chat through any questions regarding CBD oil, know that we’re happy to do so.
Sub-lingual CBD drops have helped me enormously with sleeping and with radiation damage pain. I have a cancer that spread from the pelvic area to my sacrum and sciatic nerve and whilst the chemo and radiotherapy saved my life I have been taking MST (morphine derivative) for nerve pain ever since. My tumours are presently all quiet and last March I decided I wanted to stop taking the pain relief drugs, fearing dementia. CBD oil was recommended by my son who has arthritis and, for me, it really works. It’s so good to read an article that isn’t put out by a CBD sales site – I wish it could be properly prescribed and regulated (I’m in the UK) in order to have confidence with purity and dosage.
Does the use of CBD oil have side effects? CBD is a natural substance, a cannabinoid from the cannabis/hemp plant, whose positive properties on the human organism are not only attributed by scientists and physicians but by people all over the world who have experienced its healing and therapeutic abilities. Even though it is a natural substance and because of the fact that we have our own cannabinoid system (endocannabinoid system), it looks as if it has been created for us, nevertheless the question arises whether CBD has side effects. And if so, which one? Under which circumstances? And at what dose?

I started to take CBD after I had a hard time sleeping due to bursitis in the shoulder. My trips to physical therapy only aggravated the pain issues from inflammation. My doctor and PT prescribed ibuprofen but when I used their prescribed dosage, it caused me more gastric problems than normal. Since using CBD sublingual at 5 drops of 300 mg at night, it seemed to help me get through the night and I stopped completely the use of over the counter pain relievers. An added unexpected benefit of daily nightly CBD use, was that my Gerd symptoms (that I had for years) disappeared and allowed me to stop taking Prilosec daily. For pain during the day, I use CBD as needed. I think CBD is a great natural alternative to pills. All in all, I am very pleased with CBD and expect to continue to use it moving forward. I am 68 years old and I believe that CBD for me at my age is a great thing!.
Cost is another consideration. Most CBD oils are sold in concentrations of 300 to 750 mg, although this may range from less than 100 mg to more than 2,000. A good indicator of price-point is the cost per milligram. Low-cost CBD oils usually fall between five and 10 cents per mg; mid-range prices are 11 to 15 cents per mg; and higher-end oils cost 16 cents per mg or higher. Given these varying per-milligram costs, a bottle of CBD oil may be priced anywhere from $10 or less to $150 or more.
I’ve been hoarding Girl Scouts Thin Mints lately (they’re especially good if you freeze them)—the chocolate is fine, but the peppermint oil is what makes them addicting enough to go through a whole sleeve without getting sick of them. I’m also trying to cut down on sugar, though, and while it would be a huge stretch to say that this peppermint oil-infused clear lip balm is a direct replacement for Girl Scout cookies, it really does have a very satisfying full-mouth taste of peppermint. The CBD oil, which soothes and facilitates healing at the same time, makes this formula an ideal balm for outdoor enthusiasts and or just those who are prone to painfully chapped lips. For those of us with long-hair-don’t-care, it’s not sticky—as a matter of fact, the formula is on the stiff side and won’t cause your hair to stick to your face, a welcome departure from many balms.

Insomnia: The anxiety-alleviating and sleep-prolonging qualities of CBD oil make it a good option for many people with insomnia. Those who experience insomnia due to pain or discomfort may also find that using CBD oil alleviates their physical symptoms to a noticeable extent. CBD oil may also promote daytime wakefulness when taken in small amounts; people with insomnia can use it as a pick-me-up if they feel excessively tired due to lack of restful sleep.
The key is to effectively gauge exactly how much CBD oil it takes to start managing your pain. If you start off right away with a maximum dose of a 600 mg tincture, you will have no idea how much of the product it actually took to treat your condition, and how much you wasted (this is also important because you do not want to exceed dosage and end up developing a tolerance to the active cannabinoids).

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a natural phyto-cannabinoid (or plant-based chemical compound) found in cannabis plants, including hemp and marijuana. Unlike other cannabinoids — namely tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC — CBD does not produce any psychoactive effects, and will actually counteract these effects to a degree. CBD will induce feelings of sleepiness; for this reason, it can be an effective soporific for people who struggle to fall and/or remain asleep due to insomnia and other sleep disorders.
All this talk about THC lands us nicely in the whole “Full Spectrum vs. Pure Isolate” debate. Once you begin shopping for CBD products, you’ll notice a lot of jargon that gets thrown around without much explanation. Now that we’ve introduced THC into the conversation, we can talk about the difference between, and relative benefits of, Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate (and the lesser-known contender: Broad Spectrum).
This is used for pain relief and its anti-inflammatory. It can also be used for neuropathic pain. It is infused with CBD, herbs and other essential oils. It has a fragrance that you will surely like. You would also love the silky feeling of this cream on your skin. The cream is easily absorbed by the skin into the bloodstream. CBD has beneficial effects without psychotic effects.
A good appetite is vital to a fit and healthy body, especially when recovering from an illness. There are certain illnesses which decrease the appetite to a point of preventing the body from properly healing itself. CBD oil helps stimulate appetite and can help a recovering patient eat much better and get healthier much faster. This is because CBD binds to the body’s cannabinoid receptors which play a vital role in regulating one’s feeding behavior.
