I wanted this to work, I really did. I have trouble sleeping and did not want to have to take pharmaceuticals. I tried three different brands of CBD. (btw, I have been no stranger to pot in my life). The first two times I took a small amount, but yet the next day I felt like I had a hangover. Okay, maybe another brand/make would do the trick? The third time I tried it (my fault, and I accept that) the retailer assured me that this would “change my life forever” and that I was on the road to a new calm. Trust me, I wanted to believe, I just wanted to sleep. My ‘inner voice’ was saying you are smarter than this snake oil, but I delved in anyway. I am not saying that this will be your outcome, but for me I thought that I was going to die. I was violently ill for two days and frankly, was too embarrassed to go to the hospital. If you feel that sick do not be stupid like me, go to the ER!!!! My experience was like having a hangover, but only times a thousand. Please, if you want to try this, try it slowly, really slowly. I know that it works beautifully for some people, and that is great. I am just saying proceed carefully. Be safe, be informed, be loved, be well, Love, a fellow human.

There are more than 80 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, with THC being the primary one, followed by CBD. However, in the hemp plant, which is a different strain of the species Cannabis sativa, CBD is the main active ingredient, and THC is barely present, making its use and legality more widespread. The reason that CBD is such an effective form of support for human health is due to the body’s endogenous cannabinoid system. This regulatory structure of the body has millions of cannabinoid receptors in the brain and nervous system, which react not only to plant-derived cannabinoids (such as hemp and marijuana) but also to natural cannabinoids produced within our body. When hemp oil is used and processed by the body, it is effectively boosting the function of the endocannabinoid system, helping our body regulate itself in many different ways.
Kelly, I found this site while researching for myself. I use vape bright cbd oil (for widespread chronic pain, inflamation + colon & bladder pain, Reynauds & anxiety) combined with Noxicare, a non cbd all natural organic cream. A pea sized amount of Noxicare is enough for my lower back or thigh. I was able to get off of Fentenyl patches that I had been on for over 22 years. CBD combined with Noxicare is unbelievably amazing for me!!! I also started some excellent enzymes and suppliments that a good herbalist could get you on snd I eliminated all dairy, processed oils, sugar, gluten and most animal products. The diet helped with inflammation. Don’t give up, you will find something! If you want sublingual cbd, I liked the effects of Endoca, (I didn’t like the taste) vape bright worked faster and better for me.
However, since it sounds like you went through several brands, I’d say it sounds like you may have a sensitivity, if not an allergy, to CBD. While a reaction so violent is very uncommon, it’s important to remember that we are all made differently. We have different sensitivities, different thresholds, different metabolism. What works for some (or even most) won’t work for everyone. Your advice is on point – go slowly and listen to your body! Thanks for sharing your story in our community!
I know this was a huge post… like I said, I’m an absolute mess. I’m not suicidal, but I swear I don’t know why I’m still fighting to stay in a life that doesn’t seem to want me and I know I have GOT to do something!! If anyone, someone can read this and give me honest, real feedback about a suggestion (keep in mind, I’ve spoken to my doctor. I’ve had years of therapy and I’m STILL this much of a mess) I would really appreciate it. I need to know how to be prepared if I want to try this as my last resort. I have no idea what I’d even buy! I know nothing about CBD or hemp or marijuana or THC (except that THC is the thing that gets you high). I don’t even have anyone in real life I can ask about any of this other than my doctor who pretty much just tried to be very statistical about it. if you actually read this, thank you from my whole heart… thank you.
Generalized pain, for instance, has dozens upon dozens of high profile research and clinical studies that have been carried out in universities and laboratories around the globe. One of the most well-publicized of these studies took place back in 2008, in which results determined that “cannabinoid analgesics (pain relievers) have generally been well tolerated in clinical trials … with acceptable adverse event profiles (meaning acceptable effectiveness for practical use).
Cannabidiol is the major nonpsychoactive component of Cannabis sativa. Over the centuries, a number of medicinal preparations derived from C. sativa have been employed for a variety of disorders, including gout, rheumatism, malaria, pain, and fever. These preparations were widely employed as analgesics by Western medical practitioners in the 19th century (1). More recently, there is clinical evidence suggesting efficacy in HIV-associated neuropathic pain, as well as spasms associated with multiple sclerosis (1).
I’ve been hoarding Girl Scouts Thin Mints lately (they’re especially good if you freeze them)—the chocolate is fine, but the peppermint oil is what makes them addicting enough to go through a whole sleeve without getting sick of them. I’m also trying to cut down on sugar, though, and while it would be a huge stretch to say that this peppermint oil-infused clear lip balm is a direct replacement for Girl Scout cookies, it really does have a very satisfying full-mouth taste of peppermint. The CBD oil, which soothes and facilitates healing at the same time, makes this formula an ideal balm for outdoor enthusiasts and or just those who are prone to painfully chapped lips. For those of us with long-hair-don’t-care, it’s not sticky—as a matter of fact, the formula is on the stiff side and won’t cause your hair to stick to your face, a welcome departure from many balms.
Sub-lingual CBD drops have helped me enormously with sleeping and with radiation damage pain. I have a cancer that spread from the pelvic area to my sacrum and sciatic nerve and whilst the chemo and radiotherapy saved my life I have been taking MST (morphine derivative) for nerve pain ever since. My tumours are presently all quiet and last March I decided I wanted to stop taking the pain relief drugs, fearing dementia. CBD oil was recommended by my son who has arthritis and, for me, it really works. It’s so good to read an article that isn’t put out by a CBD sales site – I wish it could be properly prescribed and regulated (I’m in the UK) in order to have confidence with purity and dosage.
I was taking THC and CBD oil for pain and developed stomach pain so bad that I thought I had pancreatitis. It was the worst pain of my life and lastest about an hour. I had previous stomach discomfort from the oil but this last bout has kept me from ever wanting to try it again. I can’t vape or smoke because I about choke to death and edibles aren’t legal in our state so I’m off of the marijuana and back to opioids unfortunately. I did have gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago – I suppose its possible it make me more sensitive.
At this time, there does seem to be a growing body of basic pharmacologic data suggesting there may be a role for CBD, especially in the treatment of refractory epilepsy. However, given the lack of well-controlled trials, we must also ask if we are getting ahead of ourselves. Clearly, this is an emotionally and politically charged issue. If this were any other uninvestigated pharmaceutical compound, would we feel as compelled to make the agent widely available before statistically valid class 1 evidence was available for review? Until data from well-designed clinical trials are available and reliable, and standardized CBD products that are produced using GMP are available, caution must be exercised in any consideration of using CBD for the treatment of epilepsy. In the meantime, based upon promising preliminary data, further clinical research should be wholeheartedly pursued.
Before I even checked the ingredients list and saw that cocoa seed butter was involved, my first impression was that this body butter smelled like chocolate, so much so that my stomach rumbled with hunger because it was 4pm and I hadn’t eaten lunch yet. Don’t the “whipped” descriptor fool you—unlike most body butters you’ve used, this formula is solid to the touch, a balm rather than a cream. But that might be exactly what you want if you’re looking for a CBD-infused treatment anyway—something that feels extra-nourishing and almost medicinal. Luckily, it smells incredible in a subtle, natural way, not like other body butters with artificial tropical fruit scents.
Chronic Pain: The body’s ECS plays a role in alleviating and managing pain, so CBD oil can work as a supplement for individuals with medical conditions that cause chronic pain, such as arthritis and multiple sclerosis. CBD oil also increases levels of adenosine in the brain; adenosine is a neurotransmitter that aids cardiovascular function and eases painful inflammation.
So far, no known calculator can give an exact dosage of CBD oil one can take. However, rough estimates are there and can help you get started. Suggestions indicate that an ideal dose should fall between 1mgs-6mgs for every 10 pounds of your body weight. However, you need to consider the amount of pain you’re experiencing and the disease’s severity. If the intensity is high, you may need to increase the dosage and vice versa.
In many industrialized countries, chronic pain has gotten regarded as a public issue. If you have ever experienced pain, then you know that it’s not a good thing. In many countries and across cultures, cannabis has been used for centuries to treat and maintain pain. But within the previous few years, the number of people using CBD oil for treating pain skyrocketed. A fact is that its effectiveness led to its increase in usage, and becoming more popular with many people. Even the number of medical professionals recommending the use of cannabinoid for managing pain has gone up.

Great question! The answer is that it depends! There are two primary types of CBD oil, isolate and full spectrum. Generally, we’d recommend full spectrum as this offers a good blend of terpenes as well as cannabidiol+. However, isolate is a better option for those who want a product with not even trace amounts of THC (in case of a drug test for their employment).

Customers should always request third party lab results that test for potency, pesticides, residual solvents, and mycotoxins of the CBD hemp oil. If a company is reluctant to share these results with you, it should automatically be a red flag and indicate that they have something to hide. We’ve done the work and checked if these brands offer those tests to their customers. We’ve assigned a letter grade of C, B, A, or A+ based on what kind of lab results are offered to customers. All the brands on this list at least offer tests showing the levels of CBD and THC in them (with THC under the legal limits for hemp of 0.3%), but brands which go further are rated higher.
Gloss and Vickrey conducted a Cochrane systematic review of the use of CBD in the treatment of epilepsy (11). Their methodology included only those trials that were randomized and controlled and excluded case series, case reports, and expert opinion. They were able to identify only 4 randomized controlled studies reported in the literature, and they included a letter to the editor and an abstract. The total number of subjects enrolled in these studies was 48 (11–14). While only four studies and a letter to the editor were in the actual analysis, the authors included a complete reference listing of all articles reviewed for inclusion.

Other potential side effects include low blood pressure, lightheadedness, and drowsiness, but these have typically only occurred in patients who have exceeded doses of 1,500 mg daily for a period of 4 weeks or more; far more than the average person will need take on a daily basis for chronic pain symptoms. (In fact, the majority of CBD users claim they find an effective dose to be anywhere between 10 and 40 mg daily).
Unless you've been tuned out to the beauty world these last few months, odds are you've heard of an ingredient called CBD (short for cannabidiol). The buzzy ingredient, which, no, won't get you high, even if ingested as an oral tincture or supplement, has now evolved into a bonafide skin-care trend, with brands offering a luxe spin on what used to be a highly niche category. "With an impressive and evergrowing number of studies finding CBD to be a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory among many other properties, it is now being used to treat pain, anxiety, spasms, and much more," New York City-based aesthetician Jeannel Astarita tells Allure.

Thank you. I am 81 and started the CBD drops night and morning. I sleep better and no longer suffer the excruciating pain from diverticulitis. I saw somewhere that for my asthma I need the THC so got some (totally illegal here in South Africa). I think it is helping. The diagnosis of COPD was made some years ago and as a health psychologist I do all I can to remain healthy for my 97th birthday!! (Both my grandmother and greatgrandmother did so I believe I will too).

Vape Pens – Perhaps the easiest way to get the CBD Oil into your body is through a vape pen. A vape pen is about the size of an ink pen but has a CBD oil cartridge with a heating element. Many people like vape pens because there is very little in the way of odor after using it and it allows for a lot of discretion because it can be pulled out of your pocket and used on demand.
